Most EMR or EMR/CPM systems are NOT supplied with hardware. That means you have to purchase it separately, configure and load your system yourself (sometimes with vendor telephone or on-site assistance). Products for medical offices need to be more sturdy, reliable, durable consumer computer systems - offering such medical features as badge swipers/bar code scanners, finger print or other biometric user ID, hot-swap batters, and so on.

When working with these suppliers, provide your EMR vendor's Recommended Hardware List so they will know what you need. Several can make special pricing to you, which might include an extended warranty or exchange period. Be sure to ask what terms apply, as these vary widely among suppliers.
